Assess the cost of a product in advance, quickly and reliably
Manage diversified production optimally
Quick to obtain an economic analysis of the product
Ability to modify cost parameters to suit needs
Implementation
The search for the most suitable software lasted about a year, during which four alternative solutions with different characteristics were evaluated, verifying their advantages and disadvantages directly in the field at the repair shops of third parties that used them.
Once the collaboration was confirmed, the programme was completed in about six months. Customizations have been made to optimize the purchase items related to different variables: price for total supply, work account, complete groups assembled, management of low cost countries, and all the items associated with the relative purchase conditions.
Results
Quick to get the real value of a piece
Detailed evaluation of the complete list of machines
Effective support of the technical office in choosing new technological solutions
Control of associated variable and fixed costs
Availability of correct parameters for comparison with external suppliers
Interview with Responsible of quick estimates
What are the special features and complexity of your production type?
We have a diversified production that includes 30% of new design components. The company follows 5 types of core business managed by 5 different technical offices, each with different needs. Our customers require high performance machines that need customization and modifications.
What needs have prompted you to consider the adoption of a Rapid Budgeting System?
First of all, it is possible to assess the cost of a product in advance, quickly but at the same time reliably.
How long did the Software Selection on Suppliers last?
About 1 year, during which we evaluated 4 alternative software with different characteristics, checking the advantages and disadvantages directly in the field at the repair shops.
What was the impact of your product choices?
The speed in obtaining an economic analysis of the product, the interfacing with our computer systems and the possibility to modify the cost parameters to adapt them to our specific needs.
Once the order has been confirmed to MecMatica, was the deadline met?
Yes, in about 6 months we have completed both the setup and some customizations required in the preliminary analysis phase with the technical staff of MecMatica Srl.
Have any customizations been made to the PREV Software?
Yes, they were made to optimize the purchase items that in our case can be related to different variables: price for total supply, work account, complete groups assembled, management of low-countriescost, and all items associated with the related purchase conditions.
Were there significant deviations from the MecMatica offer? No.
How many people did you involve in the Bottero Spa?
The Purchasing Office, Industrial Accounting, our CED data processing centre, the Technical Offices and a person currently dedicated to mechanical budgeting.
How were the relations with MecMatica both on the commercial and technical side?
I would say excellent, given their full willingness to develop software to meet our optimization requests.
What benefits have been achieved in the management of mechanical compaction and pre-conditioning?
Now with PREV we can quickly get the real value of a piece related to the following macro variables: production lot, processing technology, country of origin, and raw material price.
Also with the integration developed by MecMatica, we value in detail the complete list of a machine with thousands of sub-components that make it up, and we can effectively support the Technical Office in choosing new technological solutions, Taking into account immediately the associated variable and fixed costs. Last but not least, being Bottero Spa a company developed at an Italian and international level, we can have with PREV the right parameters to compare ourselves with our external suppliers, wherever their production workshops are located.
Are there any further developments or projects with the supplier?
In anticipation of this, we would like to improve the management of certain cost items relating for example to international transport, depreciation of specific equipment and are also studying optimisations for cycle time analysis on carpentry operations, Cutting, bending and welding.
In light of the vs. direct experience, would you recommend MecMatica as a specialist supplier? Yes!
