Translating the information system into digital
Monitoring and recording of working hours
Provide correct answers to customers on the progress of orders
Making business organisation more efficient
Implementation
They have chosen the MecMatica applications by renewing the management system and production monitoring that were previously managed in paper form. The implementation involved almost all departments: Warehouse, packaging, production with operators on board machine, production planning through the scheduler, quality control with non-conformity reports, administration, training through the management of employee records up to the storage of documents of each employee and statistics.
Results
Improved operational efficiency and reduced production time
Monitoring every stage of production, optimizing resources and improving the quality of the final product
Anticipating the needs of production more accurate planning
Management of personnel training profiles
Support in the achievement of corporate objectives
Interview with Giuliano Assirelli - founding member
How was Eurotecno founded and in what sectors does it operate?
Eurotecno is a precision machining company. It was born 26 years ago from the will of three people including me, founding partner, and we deal with precision mechanics. We work with different materials including metals, alloys and plastics. It is a company with 37 employees and is organized canonically with a managerial, commercial, technical structure, production planning, administration, production with department heads and mechanical operators. The sectors for which Eurotecno produces are mainly electronics and telecommunications. We manufacture heatsinks for printed circuit boards, frames, structures and for all the context of mechanical electronics. Among the sectors for which we work we also have the electromedical, automotive and we do something in packaging, food, up to agriculture. Eurotecno is also the owner of a start up, currently in business, which deals with motorised TV ceiling lifts. We plan to re-launch this entity, which is already separate in terms of organisation and administration, next year.
What are the company values and how do they translate into your business strategy?
I think our corporate values are really something that characterizes. Let me explain better: in Eurotecno we try to intuit the need of people, this because it is for their benefit, which is the priority, and for the benefit of the company. We try to catch their need because we know that people put in the best conditions to operate, in the best possible mindset, are able to express the best of themselves. This all benefits performance, a serene environment and good business. How do we achieve this? It’s the hardest part of my job. I try to carry it out through interviews with people: listening, asking, rethinking, planning strategies, looking for solutions, involving, sharing. Sharing is another of these aspects that characterize our company. We have monthly meetings where we compare the results of the previous month and the trends of the last quarter to see if we are doing well. We also tend to have more specific meetings, for example with the research and development department, the major division, the sales department and the technical department; there are often comparisons with the production department. We also do something more than what is normally done in other companies: we listen to the personal problems of our employees, trying to help them find their own goals. Honestly, it is not something I feel functional if I see it through the experience of other entrepreneurs, but I know that here, to us and to me as an entrepreneur it has given many tangible results, which I have found only in recent years is true, but which are certainly tangible.
Are there any peculiarities that differentiate you within your industry?
Some time ago we realized that it could be smart and intelligent to promote a service for which we have also found positive feedback from customers: assistance in the technical design and design phase. Let me explain better: we offer a technical-professional support through the figures of our sales representatives, who also have technical skills. We analyze the customer’s needs and provide our mechanical-design contribution that is able to meet various requirements. Compared to the design that the customer submits, in fact, we propose changes and suggestions to make each product more reliable, cheaper and longer lasting.
What prompted you to adopt a MES system like Metronomo.Net? And what were your needs?
Our needs, which are also those that we continue to have and in which the companies of our sector should be reflected, are the control and accounting of working hours and activities carried out in the workshop. These activities were originally documented manually. We realized, however, that with twenty work centers it was beginning to be quite complicated to manage everything in a paper way. So we decided to mechanize and digitize this type of organization. Today, thanks to the real-time monitoring of the production situation, we can also give our customers correct answers on the progress of orders. MecMatica’s Metronomo.Net has really changed the way we work. We are satisfied and are giving us great support to operate with more awareness and confidence.
How many people were involved in the company during the implementation and what are the impressions of using Metronomo.Net?
The people who were involved in the MecMatica software adoption process are the most disparate within the organization, so I can say that it interested everyone. The warehouse, packaging, production with operators on board machine, production planning through the scheduler, quality control with non-conformity reports, the administration, training through the management of the employees' profiles up to the archiving of the documents of each employee and the statistics... Metronomo.Net allows us to manage many different aspects of our business and is helping us achieve the result for which we decided to use it.
Why and to which companies would you recommend the Metronomo suite by MecMatica?
I recommend the Metronomo.Net product to mechanical processing companies because it was born to meet the needs of this sector. It is designed for the query and the real-time accounting of what happens in the workshop with the work centers.
